WhenSeanSpeaks, Inc. is a Recognized 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Public Charity
Your contributions will help us with this Vision that we have for our Community:
There
is an urgent need in our community to enhance resources for a growing
number of persons living with the effects of brain injury, stroke, and
other neurological problems. For many people, the end of formal therapy
services signifies the end of hope. There is nowhere for them to
continue to work toward functional recovery as well as general fitness.
Traditional exercise facilities such as gyms or workout clubs are not
equipped to deal with the needs of these individuals. Persons with
mobility needs resulting from brain injury and stroke need assistance
and modifications to allow them to exercise.
We
want to create a place that not only has all of the equipment necessary
to enhance outcomes for this population, but will also provide
qualified assistance and encouragement for exercise. It is our vision
that these facilities would be an extension of the Physical Therapy
Departments at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and UT Medical Branch at Galveston. Partnering with these facilities would ensure the highest levels of care and commitment.
Back Story:
Even though my son, Sean Carter, cannot walk or talk, yet...
And I, his MoM, Jenny Carter, quit my job more than 7 years ago to take care of him 24/7, we’ve never stopped dreaming of a better life. We dreamed of a life that would engage us in every way and allow us to be productive citizens and share our experiences so that other lives could be saved.
On August 9, 2010, we received word that our dream had finally become reality. WhenSeanSpeaks, Inc has been approved by the IRS as a 501(c)(3), fully Non-Profit Agency.
The goal of the organization is to touch lives with encouragement that you can overcome obstacles with faith and perseverance; to talk to people about living with the consequences of your actions; to share our story of the effects of alcohol and driving; and, to address (and overcome) obstacles to living in a wheelchair when you can’t talk!
WhenSeanSpeaks, Inc, was formed solely for charitable, educational and scientific purposes. The organization was formed to make a difference through inspirational speeches about consequences and choices. We fully believe that with the guidance of our Board of Directors we will be able to provide funding opportunities to benefit persons with traumatic brain injury. We are especially interested in helping those with movement disorders and speech deficits.
Any monies donated to WhenSeanSpeaks, Inc. are controlled by the Board of Directors of the Organization. Jenny and Sean are non-voting members of the Board. Money contributed to this organization cannot be used to support Sean or his needs.
